Getting that Caribbean Island Hammocks Feeling!
Mention a hammock and all sorts of images spring to peoples’ minds. You have the usual mental image of relaxing on a beach in Jamaica or some other Caribbean island with a run cocktail in hand. You have another mental image of a rope hammock strapped up between two palm trees against the setting sun. Either way, the message is the same – you get a taste of sheer paradise whenever hammocks are involved, but it is never the same at home is it? There is no way that you can create, or recreate, that Caribbean experience at home is there? Well, yes there is. You can get the island hammocks feeling if you know how!
So how can you create the ideal island experience with rope hammocks at home? Well, it all depends on your personal preferences and the space you have. However, the following tips may be able to help you to create a little slice of paradise in your own back yard!
• Firstly, figure out your space – Most people with hammocks simply put them up either by tying them to something or using the pole stands that come with them wherever there is a little space. This is not the way to create a tropical paradise. Tropical paradises do not have clutter and mess in them. They do not have poor views or anything else that could possibly distract you from your relaxation. Consider where you intent to put your rope hammock, clear out any clutter around it and make sure that you have a perfect view of your garden.
• Enhance your environment – There is nothing wrong in adding one or two trees and a little greenery around your hammock because it will enhance the natural beauty of the area as well as giving it a totally tropical feeling. You may also want to place a sun shade behind you to protect you from the sun when it reaches its highest level in summer. This will help to keep you cool and comfortable.
• Block out the world – if you have nosy neighbors then the last thing you want it to have them staring at you when you are lying in your hammock so why not take the time to put up drapes around the hammock area or even sun blinds to guarantee a little privacy. Of course, this is completely optional but it is a good idea if you want privacy.
• Choose your timing carefully – You are not going to be able to enjoy a tropical paradise in your back yard if the sun is not shining so timing is everything. Make the most of the rays, especially those at the end of the day when the sun is going down for a romantic interlude.
• Prepare cocktails and snacks – No Caribbean island hammock is complete without a rum cocktail or whatever else it is that you drink so this is an absolute must! Add the finishing touches to your own piece of paradise, lie back in your hammock and close your eyes!
